The New Roswell Project is dropping soon (stay tuned)

This is a speculative fiction novel about Jake (who wishes for you to not know his real name) and his high school grad trip to New Roswell, a newly built welfare city for down-on-their-luck New Yorkers. Jake gets stuck there during an outbreak of “Various Threatening Persons” (that’s what the emergency alert calls them). While there, he joins survivors, makes friends, and quickly learns that the Various Threatening Persons are not the zombies people make them out to be. Yes, some of them chase. Yes, some of them bite and none of them can talk. But some of them can write and remember their previous lives, before they settled in New Roswell, took their mandatory vaccination, and turned grey. One of them, a mom who turned grey and watched her daughter flee in fear, shows an unusual kindness to Jake. She stays in touch with him as he survives in a convenience store; Jake and his friends keep the correspondence a secret. And when a war begins between these greys and the New Roswell survivors, Jake and his friends have to decide which side is truly more human.

I’m a writer by trade and have been working on The New Roswell Project for over a decade in-between school, part-time teaching, full-time jobs, a pandemic, economic collapse, EI, the rise of low-grade fascism, weather disasters, and more. My genre-bending approach of combining literary “big idea stuff” and a younger character cast is too out-there for the risk-averse publishing industry. That’s why I’m self-publishing this baby.
